Agile Coach Manager
GSK House Based
Coach, train and mentor teams, individuals, and leadership in agile ways of working across team, product and portfolio. As a champion of the agile culture the coach endeavors to drive continuous improvement on new ways of working and bringing outside knowledge into the organization. The agile coach role also encompasses the creation and maintenance of the curriculum and content. The coach has the ability to deliver education on agile, design thinking, product management and portfolio management, motivating changes and adoption of ways of working in the organization. A coach is also responsible for bringing the latest in agile thinking and implementing new tools and techniques.
Strategy: Being aware and internalizing the latest industry fields on agile, product and portfolio management, and developing a long term roadmap for practices, assets, tools and capability. Advocate to leadership on agile and product management strategy. Drive the implementation of ‘BRP’ (or similar) for Digital
Governance: Establishing governance on agile tools, assets and processes, and then consulting on overall agile delivery governance. Governance on the education process for teams and the wider organization.
Core Knowledge & Expertise: Staying connected and up to date with the agile environment, seeking new standards and trends to continuously improve internal expertise and capabilities. Continuously growing knowledge on agile ways of working, product management, portfolio management and design thinking, to bring into the organisation.
Agile Process: Craft the efficient set of tools/ways-of-working to ensure consistency, repeatability and reliability of agile execution which is compliant to GSK standards and is actively in use and followed by all projects and programs.
Continuous Improvement: Accountable for driving ongoing improvements on practices, assets, tools and capabilities. Applying continuous retrospectives, define setup critical metrics for the organization capability and performance to identify and measure improvement areas.
Quality, Risk & Compliance: Accountable for ensuring that all agile practices delivered and consulted to the organization are compliant to GSK, consumer health and industry standard.
Demand Management: Accountable for the management of incoming demand for coaching, consultancy and mentorship (e.g. agreeing funding, prioritisation, handling core assets). Management of new demand for education content and changes to curriculum.
Consultancy: A coach is responsible for ad-hoc consultancy for teams, individuals and leaders. They must maintain a high level of up to date knowledge on agile ways of working and be able to quickly analyze situations in order to provide consultation.
People Management: Management of CWs which have been brought onto the mentor team; ensuring they deliver to encouraged standards, onboarding and general resource management. Responsible for shadowing education and demand allocation of new coaches – nothing currently in scope here (yet)
Education: Accountable for maintaining and crafting the education assets, delivery of pathways, overall curriculum. Responsible to gathering feedback and continuously improving content.
Degree in Computer or Information Science or Agile Practitioner Qualifications or equivalent experience
Completion of the VFQ Specialist Coaching Pathway
Significant experience in agile ways of working
Excellent mentor skills, and development of people skills
Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization including senior partners
Experience in bootstrapping teams through the VFQ maturity model (minimum shadowing of other coaches on a bootstrap)
Had responsibility for developing and maintaining agile ways of working and governance that is implemented and embedded
Has first-hand experience in tracking and reporting progress
Needs to have handled and conducted critical issues to other teams and to senior partners
Needs to demonstrate the experience in applying routine process improvement principles to ensure agile practices are adapted to implement standard methodologies, take care of any shortcomings from lesson learnt
Experience in working with teams across functions and geographies
Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
Excellent workshop facilitation skills
Experience in crafting educational workshop materials
Experience in using collaboration and efficiency tools (e.g. Jira)
Experience in Product Management and Design Thinking
Clear understanding of Portfolio Management
Experience in adhering to compliance standards
Experience in analyzing current ways of working and solutioning on how to improve
Experience in organisational change
