Veolia are hiring for an entry level Tax Associate to support the Direct Tax Managers in London in managing corporation tax compliance, reporting and ad-hoc advisory work carried out for the UK and Ireland. The Group Tax function is split across offices in London and Cannock (Staffordshire) but the successful applicant will be primarily based in London with some travel to Cannock and other areas of the UK for meetings or site visits as required. At the moment the team is primarily working remotely and an element of this may continue in the future.

This role offers unique in-house practical training, together with professional exam study and support, aiming towards ATT and CTA qualifications within three years.

What you’ll do

Main duties will include:
*
*

  • Assist with completion of all corporation tax returns, across Waste, Water, Energy and VWT, for submission to the UK and Irish tax authorities.
  • Assisting with completion of the year end statutory accounts notes for all entities in the UK and Ireland.
  • Assisting with all reporting events for all entities in the UK and Ireland - each quarter, budgeting and forecasting to the Head Office in Paris.
  • Assist on ad hoc projects and queries from HMRC.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and queries as they arise from the business.
  • Work effectively as part of a small team of tax experts, collaborating and networking across the business in order to add value and to deliver departmental and business objectives.
  • Commitment to studying for the ATT and CTA exams.

  • Recent graduate
  • Ability to research complex topics and formulate technical arguments
  • Ability to work independently and to deadlines
  • Interested in a long-term career in taxation
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel

  • 2:1 degree or equivalent
  • Accountancy/finance degree subject preferred but not essential
