Overview

Mangahigh.com is a fast growing edTech company that helps children learn maths and coding through its purpose built games and activities. We are now looking for an exceptional Back-End Developer to join our rapidly expanding technical team in London.

You will be passionate about building high performant and scalable back-end applications. You will enjoy solving difficult problems, making the complex simple, and be highly self-motivated. You will work directly with the lead developers at Mangahigh and take responsibility for new features.

You will be excited by the prospect of working for a successful edTech company as a mid-senior PHP Backend Developer. You will want to work closely with a team of high performing developers, and you will want to bring new ideas to the company.

Our technical overview

  • Web platform
  • Used globally - key markets in AU, US, Middle East, UK and Brazil
  • Majority of our new front-end is built in React.JS
  • Fully RESTful API built in PHP

Some things you might initially build

  • New student upload tool
  • New integrations with 3rd party systems

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Key:

  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, domain modelling and the ability to write testable clean code
  • Solid experience with PHP Backend Development
  • Follow software design best practices such as continuous integration, test-driven development, and regular deployments
  • Five plus years of experience developing web applications
  • Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude

Good to have:

  • Commercial experience with Symfony
  • Some exposure to Java
  • Knowledge of Git, Docker/Kubernetes
  • The ability to understand and leverage new technologies
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, DDD and TDD
  • Comfortable with Unix/Linux systems
