The Ingestion team provide a powerful API which affords Mimecast the capability to allow significantly large amounts of client email data to be imported/exported into the Mimecast archive safely and effectively with no loss of integrity. This is a complex process which requires a robust and detailed approach to ensure rapid efficiency.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will be responsible for:
  • You will contribute to software development activities in both the backend (Java, Postgres, NoSQL) and the Front End (UI, JavaScript, Angular) areas of our tech stack.
  • Craft dynamic web apps for rapid delivery in an Agile development environment using DevOps practices.
  • Participate in the architectural design, innovation and development of new services within the Mimecast platform.
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership in a project capacity as a key subject matter expert.
  • Highlighting and driving improvements to the Software Engineering Environment.
  • Coach, provide feedback and share your knowledge with your team and the wider backend and frontend developer community.
  • Supporting and trouble-shooting, occasionally outside of regular office hours when needed.
  • Perform role whilst working toward the goals and objectives of the business.
  • Provide Hands-on problem solving with a willingness to do whatever it takes to complete an objective.
  • Plan and negotiate with peers to meet deadlines.
  • Encourage others to perform at their best embracing 'best practice'.
  • Manage your own time and priorities, without the need for micro-management.
  • Expert knowledge of the Java programming language and runtime environment
  • Solid experience with Java core libraries
  • Experience building responsive UIs on the web that are maintainable, scalable and robust, ideally with Angular 2+ and Typescript. VueJS, Node.JS, React valuable.
  • Deep understanding of the Object-Oriented programming patterns and best practices.
  • A broad knowledge of the web platform as a whole (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, HTTP/S, web performance, web security, frameworks).
  • Experience with database servers and SQL, Postgres.
  • Knowledge of testing techniques applied to web UIs (for example, Webdriver, Protractor).
  • Great communication skills and evidence of successful collaboration with designers and backend engineers.
  • Passion for tackling complexity with simplicity and building platforms that can scale through multiple orders of magnitude.
  • Someone who thinks that searching for a needle in a haystack can indeed be exciting and not afraid of exploring unconventional solutions.
  • Understanding continuous deployment and SCMs.
