You will be responsible for providing data capabilities to the College to perform analytics and support our data driven operations for:
Experimental data for research purposes (big data analysis), and
Business data for strategic planning and service performance enhancement.
To ensure that these different business needs and customer groups are to be served to their distinctive demands in terms of providing at scale warehousing and data transformation solutions for local analysts in the College. Additionally, to save time and reduce data errors by streamlining existing business practices to modernize and automate workflow.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
Defining and delivering to roadmaps for Data capability and to carry responsibility for change deliveries, releases and transition into operation, in collaboration with the
Technology Office, Product Teams and suppliers where necessary.
Accountable for the delivery of data platforms, data warehousing, and data application programming interfaces to allow product teams to extract, transfer, load (ETL) data and create, read, update and delete (CRUD) data records across (cloud-based) systems.
Deliver through teams using best practice agile ways of working (agile, squads), moving away of project-based delivery model, delivering against defined release and benefits plans.
Draft and maintains policies, standards and procedures for information and data governance, to ensure proper data handling and safeguarding quality data, with regards to data (set/pool) aggregation/ transformation / cleaning/ standardisation/ normalisation/ optimisation/ storing in structured and unstructured data warehouses, etc. Ensure proper reviews are performed on information and data systems for compliance against organisational policies, legislations and risk and to provide secure data services.
Promote and works by the ethos “reuse before buy” and “buy before build” to benefit multiple times from single investments.
Take responsibility for understanding customer requirements and user needs: identifies, evaluates and recommends data and analytics options. Seeks to fully address College needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of solutions by ensuring that they are both properly understood and appropriately exploited.
Ensure that appropriate 2nd and 3rd line support are available for data queries that are escalated from Service Operations. Promote the data services available through a myriad of communication channels in collaboration with ICT Communications staff.
Be responsible for managing and reporting on their Data budget to the Head of Infrastructure & Shared Services.

Degree or equivalent, preferably computer technology-related or comparable.
Managing data practice capability in a medium or large organisation.
Exposure to, and effective use of, enterprise service repository(ies).
Experience of leading and driving business initiatives, new strategies and vision across an # organisation, including technical transformations, through engagement and collaboration with business stakeholders, other ICT stakeholders and external suppliers.
Experience of managing teams of senior and highly skilled individuals, setting clear objectives and deliverables, enabling and reporting on individual achievement of these.
Experience of managing teams utilising Agile or iterative project techniques and methodologies.
Substantial experience of translating customer business needs into IT projects with defined benefits.
Experience with complex cloud-based software platforms and transferring data across systems using web service protocols, ETL and APIs.
Proven competence identifying and undertaking data analysis and data modelling activities within a complex technological environment.
Strong practical working knowledge of data needs and data analysis in higher education or a large organisation.
Knowledge of a broad range of current and emerging ICT technologies and business processes, delivery models, principles and practice.
Knowledge of data security principles and options.
Knowledge of best practises around data handling, including data aggregation/ transformation/ standardisation/ normalisation/ optimisation, etc.
Knowledge of IT product management and development lifecycle
Knowledge around data warehousing, feeds and sourcing
Working knowledge of information architecture

Able to distil, articulate and translate business goals into actionable plans as a thought leader.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead others and persuasively communicate complex technical information effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders, including those without a technical background.
Outstanding analytical skills paired with excellent communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated strong service attitude, building lasting customer relationships
Strong research and analytical skills to track and predict IT technology trends and advise of potential opportunities or benefits.
Performing proof of concept or prototyping exercises to demonstrate or evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of applying a particular technology to a business problem.
Organised, with good project management, time management and prioritisation skills.
Ability to work across an organisation engaging business users at different levels/grades and comfortable challenging at all levels of seniority to ensure the right outcomes are met
